The Weight of the World: Stress, Drones, and the Gut Connection
Hello, dear readers! Welcome to another edition of Resilient Roads: Tales of Health and Healing. I’m so grateful to share this space with you—a place where resilience, healing, and hope take center stage, even amid life’s unexpected twists and turns.
It’s been a strange few weeks, hasn’t it? One moment, we’re preparing for the holidays, and the next, we’re watching news about drones hovering over New Jersey and scattered reports of mysterious orbs in the sky. It’s surreal, almost like something out of a sci-fi movie.
And while I could dive deep into theories about drones and orbs—what they are, who’s behind them, or why they’re here—what I really want to talk about is what’s happening closer to home. Because whether it’s world events, the rising cost of groceries, or trying to make ends meet, the constant stress we’re carrying is taking a toll on our bodies, especially our guts.
Have you felt it too? That gnawing feeling in your stomach that isn’t just hunger? For some, it shows up as bloating, cramping, or a flare-up of something more serious like diverticulitis. For others, it’s fatigue, irritability, or brain fog. It’s like our bodies are screaming at us to slow down, to stop carrying the weight of everything outside of our control.
The truth is, we’re living in a world that demands a lot from us while giving back very little. We’re working harder, paying more, and getting less in return—not just in terms of money, but in the quality of our food, our relationships, and even the time we have to simply breathe. Grocery store shelves are stocked with sugar-laden, overly processed “foods” that do nothing but feed inflammation. And all of this—stress, poor diet, lack of community—is a recipe for physical and emotional breakdown.
But here’s the thing: we can choose to step away from this chaos.
It’s not easy. Trust me, I’ve had those moments where I just want someone to swoop in with a magic wand and make everything better. But that’s not how real change works. Healing—whether it’s your gut, your mind, or your life—starts from within. It starts when you decide to peel back the layers, let go of what’s weighing you down, and take responsibility for your own well-being.
I’ve seen so many people come to me, desperate for quick fixes. “What’s the one food I can eat to make this stop?” “What’s the one tip to fix my constipation?” And while I wish I could hand them an easy answer, the truth is you’ve got to put in the work. You have to confront your patterns, your habits, and yes, your stress.
So, here’s my question to you:
What’s one thing you can let go of today that’s adding unnecessary stress to your life?
Maybe it’s stepping away from the news for a few hours. Maybe it’s clearing out the processed junk from your pantry. Maybe it’s giving yourself permission to say no to something that doesn’t serve you. Start small. Start simple. But start somewhere.
Because the more you work on yourself, the clearer your mind becomes, the stronger your body feels, and the more you can show up for the life you want to create. That’s what I’m working on every single day. And I hope you’ll join me.
Let me know your thoughts—what’s been weighing on you lately? How are you finding ways to take care of yourself in this overwhelming world? Drop a comment below. I’d love to hear from you.
Until next time,
Robin 🫶🏻
